Prof. Dong Chen is associate Professor of the Department of Pancreatobiliary Surgery, the First Affiliated Hospital, at the Sun Yat-Sen University of Guangzhou in China.
Prof. Dong Chen completed his medical studies and attained his M.D. (2002) degree of Medicine and Ph.D. (2007) degree of Surgery at Sun Yat-Sen University. He curently can perform some major surgery, such as Whipple, distal pancreatectomy, right hemihepatectomy or laproscopic hepatectomy, etc. He is member of several Chinese Medical Societies, including the Youth Committee of Chinese Medical Association in the field of Biliary Surgery (National), the Youth Committee of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association in the field of Pancreatic Cancer (National), Permanent Member of Guangdong Provincial Anti-Cancer Association in the field of Biliary Cancer (Local), Permanent Member of the management of Portal Hypertention, Guangdong Provincial Medical Profession Association(Local).
Prof. Dong Chen’s research interest focus on the molecular mechanism of targeted drug of Hepatocellular carcinoma. He has published more than 30 scientific papers in Hepobiliary-Pancreatic Surgery, including a study in Hepatology, regarding the mechanism of a targeting drug, sorafenib, in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (as a co-author). He also authored a number of peer-revewed journal articles, e.g. BMC cancer, EJSO, BJS, J Surg Res, J Dig Dis. He is currently undertaking several scientific projects supported by National Scientce Foundation or Natural fund of Guangdong Province.
