The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University endoscopy center is the first batch digestive endoscopic professional training base named by the Ministry of Health in 2006. Therefore, the specialists coming from more than 100 hospitals have been training in our center. Our new-built center covers an area of over 1100 square meters including eight gastrointestinal examination rooms, one VIP room and one ERCP room. The completion of gastrointestinal examination performance will reach to more than 30-40 thousand cases annually. Our center currently carries out endoscopic examination items including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, dyed magnification endoscopy, duodenoscopy(ERCP), single balloon enteroscopy, ultrasonography and endoscopic treatment technologies including ESD, ESE, EFTR, STER, POEM, G-POEM, NOTES, ERCP, EUS-FNA and so on. Our center took the lead in the use of transparent cap in the endoscopic management of foreign bodies in the upper gastrointestinal tract, which was cited by the 2016 European adult upper gastrointestinal foreign body treatment clinical guidelines. We were also the first to carry out POEM technology with modified-POEM (short tunnel POEM) and have successfully completed the POEM for the youngest patient in southern China (20 months) who was diagnosed with cardia achalasia. We were also the first all over the world to apply the purse string suture and thermal coagulation to cure the Forrest Ia peptic ulcer bleeding. Our endoscopy center unites all specialists in gastroenterology and hepatology, gastrointestinal surgery department to fully integrated model of care, aimed at optimizing the patient experience and providing patients with the most advanced level of diagnostic and treatment of gastrointestinal tract disease

The Endoscope centercurrently hosts 50 staffs including 25 senior specialists which include 6 Chief Physicians, 10 Associate Chief Physicians dedicated to endoscopic diagnosis and treatment as well as education and research.
Professor Minhu Chen, the academic leader of the gastroenterology department, is a well-known expert in the field, Chairman Elect of Digestive branch of Chinese Medical Association, chairman of Digestive Endoscopy Branch of Guangdong Medical Association, vice-chairman of Digestive Physicians Section of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, member of the Guidelines Committee and Publications Committee of World Gastroenterology Organization, member of Asian Working Committee and counselor of Rome Criteria Committee for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders, member of standing committee of Asian Association for functional gastrointestinal disorders and gastrointestinal motility disorders. He also serves as deputy editor or editorial member of domestic or abroad professional journals, including Chinese Medical Journal, Chinese Journal of Internal Medicine, Chinese Journal of Digestive Diseases, Chinese Journal of Digestive Endoscopy, J Gastroenterol Hepatol, J Chin Med, J Dig Dis, J Esophagus etc.
Dr. Yi Cui, Professor is the director of endoscopy center and a member of standing committee of Guangdong Digestive Endoscopy.
Dr.Jinhui Wang, Associate Professor, vice director of endoscopy center, is a member and secretary of Guangdong Digestive Endoscopy. Both experts are our board certified, highly experienced gastroenterologists on the various endoscopy procedures to achieve excellent medical outcomes for patients.
